The Goodyears
My sister and I were devastated when the family cottage was sold, and for the past thirty years we've been faithfully guarding our cottage artefacts in the hopes of one day putting it all back together in a new place. But that now seems unlikely. The Goodyears project was conceived as a way to help us close that chapter of our lives. I built some sets in my basement to recreate the inside and outside of the cottage, and then using a camera and 110 film from the 1970s, I set out to photograph all our memorabilia the way I remember it — in its original context.
Making this series of cinematic still life photographs was pure joy. I loved every minute. It gave me a chance to go back and spend just a little bit more time at the cottage, and say goodbye in my own way.
